A Perfect Day in Les Menuires

What can you do in Les Menuires for a day this summer? Hiking, picnicking, visiting an alpine farm, taking a guided tour, enjoying a snack, trying a tree-top adventure course, having dinner... The perfect day is right here!

Want to experience a day like no other in Les Menuires, combining nature, sports, and fine dining? We’re offering a family getaway—the perfect day at an altitude of 2,000 meters!

Morning: Start your day with a refreshing hike

To start your day in Les Menuires, head to Plan de l’Eau des Bruyères. It’s one of the most pleasant starting points for the hike to Lac du Lou—a hike suitable for everyone that takes you up into the hills without straying far from the resort.

The 5.2-kilometer trail offers a wonderful immersion in the mountain scenery. The hike generally takes between 2 and 3 hours, depending on your pace, including photo breaks. Throughout the hike, panoramic views open up to the Alpine peaks, mountain pastures, and the valley’s terrain—and even the mountain pastures at Chez Pépé Nicolas on the opposite slope.

Once you arrive, Lac du Lou rewards your efforts with its peaceful atmosphere and cool waters. It’s the perfect place to relax, take in the mountain views, and share a simple, unhurried moment, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Noon: A picnic with a view of the mountains

After the hike, it’s time for a well-deserved break. Around Lac du Lou, there are several spots where you can settle in for a picnic with a view. Here, even a simple meal takes on a whole new dimension: a few treats to share, a patch of grass, the mountain peaks as a backdrop—and the day instantly feels like a vacation.

For those who didn’t bring a packed lunch, feel free to stop by the Chez Pépé Nicolas shop, which sells local products, including cheeses from our mountain pasture and local cured meats. And for a coffee and pastry break with a view of the lake, the Lac du Lou mountain hut is the perfect spot!

Afternoon: Explore the Chez Pépé Nicolas Alpine Farm

From Lac du Lou, head toward Chez Pépé Nicolas to continue your alpine pasture experience, then head back down via another trail that’s very easy to access. How to Get to Chez Pépé Nicolas from Les Menuires

Our alpine farm is a must-see destination for families. Here, you’ll experience the vibrant spirit of the mountains: animals, local expertise, traditions, cheeses, a Savoyard chalet, and encounters with the people who bring this place to life every day.

Milking the goats by hand is one of the highlights of the afternoon. The goats and our herders will be waiting for you at 3:30 p.m. in front of the farm.

Feel free to book a guided tour, especially the children’s workshops “Little Farmers” at 4:15 p.m. and “Come Feed the Farm Animals” at 5:30 p.m., which are held daily, to take part in a fun and educational activity.

Afternoon snack at the summit on a high-altitude terrace

After the tour, there’s nothing better than a tasty treat at Chez Pépé Nicolas. Whether with family or friends, snack time becomes a truly comforting experience: a Liège waffle, a blueberry shortbread, homemade ice cream, a cheese platter, an Alpine cocktail, or homemade iced tea… there’s something for everyone! Check out the gourmet snack menu

Our terraces let you extend your afternoon in a peaceful setting with panoramic views. Take the time to admire the mountain peaks and let time simply pass.

Visit the permaculture garden at an altitude of 2,000 meters

At Pépé Nicolas, the adventure doesn’t end at the farm. Our high-altitude permaculture garden is one of the most unique experiences the place has to offer. At an altitude of 2,000 meters, growing vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers requires a real adaptation to mountain conditions.

The garden helps us understand the direct connection between the earth, the seasons, and what ends up on our plates. Alpine cuisine can also be sustainable, creative, and deeply rooted in its environment.

Tree-top adventure course—fun guaranteed!

On the way down to Plan de l’Eau des Bruyères in Les Menuires, the Montagne Aventure park offers high-rope courses for children and parents, featuring wooden walkways, moving cables, Tibetan bridges… and a giant zip line. For more information on the Montagne Aventure course, contact the Vallée des Belleville guide office.

An evening under the stars with a hearty dinner

To round out this perfect day in Les Menuires, head to the restaurant Chez Pépé Nicolas for an evening of hearty, traditional mountain cuisine—inspired by the Savoyard region and prepared with care. Reserve your table at Chez Pépé Nicolas in Les Menuires

On your plate, you’ll find everything you’ve discovered throughout the day: our dairy products, vegetables from our garden, and our commitment to sustainability and creativity—all set against the backdrop of the 3 Vallées mountain range.

And don’t forget that every Wednesday evening, you can end the night with a fireworks display put on by our team right next to the restaurant. The enchantment and magic of the lights come to life in the heart of the mountain pastures at Chez Pépé Nicolas!
